For many years Mark struggled to hear the voices of those he loved, and for his last five years lived in a bubble of silence. He bore this loss with huge stoicism. Despite years of lipreading classes he depended on note-writing and finger spelling, and he missed the ordinary pleasures of laughing and joking, and easy companionship. We too missed talking with him --- the joy of easy conversation with a lovely witty man.
